VR Dancing Alphabet

How can we turn off the inundation of language of the digital world? This VR environment immerses users in a mirrored maze of asemic writing. The disorienting flood of meaningless symbols recalls the contemporary experience of overwhelm when faced with endless information.

“Information pours upon us, instantaneously and continuously. As soon as information is acquired, it is very rapidly replaced by still newer information. Our electrically-configured world has forced us to move from the habit of data classification to the mode of pattern recognition.”
– Marshall Mcluhan, The Medium is the Massage

I also installed the Oculus headset and physical replicas of the asemic characters into a gallery space, documented below:
Exhibition in collaboration with Maria Barr and Amanda Teixeira.
