Camworld

When was the last time you interacted with a cow in person? A fish? A wild forest? And when did you last see an image of one online?

CAMWORLD is visual essay which mimics the endless scrolls pervasive in contemporary digital reality and traces the history of the webcam back to its inception.  Through two independently scrolling columns of text and images, we draw visual and conceptual parallels between animal livecams and human livestreams. The serendipitous juxtapositions of words and imagery revealed through user interaction suggest ideas of human/nonhuman fetishization, surveillance, and multiple realms of reality.
